Loved Allison Russell, Amy and Emily (Indigo Girls) and especially Brandi Carlile--everthing about this evening, performance wise, was pitch perfect. Now...for the venue...wow, it's been a long time since my last trip to Merriweather Post Pavilion with lawn seats. I will NEVER, EVER AGAIN purchase lawn seats at this venue. This category of admission is now so seriously oversold that there literally isn't space for every ticket holder AND the ability to move about the lawn. That's my first critical observation. The second is that it's clear that alcohol sales drive the concession offerings. There's very little available, beverage-wise, except alcoholic libations and soda. Food is ridiculously overpriced as well, especially given the venue insists on "no outside food or drink". The performance was great, but my memories of what MPP used to be are only, sadly, memories.
